Does a new year mean a new car for you?

Does a new year mean a new car for you?

Whoever said buying a car is easy? There are so many more options to consider even before you select your new vehicle's options. Even with the advantage of having so many informational resources available at one's fingertips via the internet, car buyers today still actually make their purchases within days of deciding to buy a new car.  You can find many resources about various vehicles whether it be cost comparison, features, options, or safety like those offered by Kelley Blue Book, Edmunds, or Consumer Reports.

One very important factor to consider in your purchase will be the vehicle's safety.  The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing the losses — deaths, injuries and property damage — from crashes on the nation's roads, has been testing car safety since 1959.  According to the IIHS, their tests evaluate two aspects of safety: crashworthiness — how well a vehicle protects its occupants in a crash — and crash avoidance and mitigation — technology that can prevent a crash or lessen its severity.  Post these tests, IIHS awards each year to the vehicles either a "Top Safety Pick" or "Top Safety Pick+"  rating. Safety Pick or "Top Safety Pick+"  rating.

See the video below about some of their testing criteria and visit the source article for additional details and the list of " Top Picks."
